Finite spectrum of 2nth order boundary value problems
For any even positive integer 2n and any positive integermwe construct a class of regular self-adjoint and non-self-adjoint boundary value problems whose spectrum consists of at most (2n − 1)m + 1 eigenvalues. Our main result reduces to previously known results for the cases n = 1 and n = 2. In the self-adjoint case with separated boundary conditions this upper bound can be improved to n(m + 1)...
متن کاملA Necessary and Sufficient Condition for Pseudo-symmetric Positive Solutions of Boundary Value Problems
Recently, many authors have focused on the question of symmetric positive solutions for ordinary differential equation boundary value problems, for example, see (Avery & Henderson, 2000; Çetin & Topal, 2012; Graef & Kong, 2008; Hamal & Yoruk, 2010; Jiang, Liu & Wu, 2013; Luo & Luo, 2010; Luo & Luo, 2012; Lin & Zhao, 2013; Tersenov, 2014) and the references therein. In (Avery & Henderson, 2003),...
متن کاملPositive solutions of $n$th-order $m$-point boundary value problems
In this paper, by using four functionals fixed point theorem, we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one positive solution of an $n$th-order $m$-point boundary value problem. As an application, we give an example to demonstrate our main result.
متن کاملA necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of symmetric positive solutions of higher-order boundary value problems
where n≥ is an integer, f : (, )× (,∞)→ [,∞) is continuous, αi, βi are nonnegative constants, α i + αiβi > , i = , . . . ,n. f (t,u) may be singular at u = , t = (and/or t = ). If a function u : [, ]→ R is continuous and satisfies u(t) = u( – t) for t ∈ [, ], then we say that u(t) is symmetric on [, ]. By a symmetric positive solution of BVP (.) we mean a symmetric functi...
متن کاملExistence of positive solutions for fourth-order boundary value problems with three- point boundary conditions
In this work, by employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem, we study the existence of positive solutions of a three-point boundary value problem for the following fourth-order differential equation begin{eqnarray*} left { begin{array}{ll} u^{(4)}(t) -f(t,u(t),u^{prime prime }(t))=0 hspace{1cm} 0 leq t leq 1, & u(0) = u(1)=0, hspace{1cm} alpha u^{prime prime }(0) - beta u^{prime prime pri...
